KAMPALA – Vision Voice for Africa (VVAF), an organization based in Malaysia has partnered with five Ugandan Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) to fight against human trafficking.
The Ugandan NGOs include Alice Foundation for Human Rights (AFHR), Kyrstal Hands Foundation, Mezu, Equality Uganda, and Mazungumzo to fight human trafficking.
The partnership was made on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the launch of VVAF in Uganda which took place at Grand Global Hotel in Makerere.
According to Mr Okwunwanne Mmaduka the Chairman of VVAF, human trafficking, sex trafficking, organ traffickers, modern slavery and all illegal forms of migration should be stopped.
He explained that slave trade is a battle that was fought many years ago and was won by our great grandparents but to date, it has been replaced by sex trafficking, illegal migration and other migration challenges among others.
Okwunwanne explained that the importance of the campaign is to raise awareness among victims, governments, civil society and the private sector.
The campaign seeks to build cooperation with all stakeholders to harness a network of people, professionals working against abhorrent vices.
“We cannot continue seeing the lifeless body of our young men and women littering in the middle of ocean and high seas, we don’t have enough words to console our love ones, friends and family that they can’t see the dead body of their sons and daughters who by economic migration eaten by the wild animal and sea animals,” he said.
He added: “We can’t stand the pain knowing that our children are being put in the cage waiting for their organs to be harvested by the organ traffickers. By missing steps and ending their life at most painful and inhuman treatment. We must do something to educate our children on these dangerous moves.”
Mr Okwunwanne also commended President Museveni for his speech during the commemoration of the 2021 Labor Day celebrations where he condemned labor exports.
“For me, I don’t believe in Labor export. Countries that externalize labor are countries that have missed something. I have proof. I have never seen South Koreans exporting labor, the only S. Korean I have seen is Ban Ki-Moon. S. Korea is half the size of Uganda but you don’t see them. Me I am now for the South Korean approach,” President Museveni said.
Mr Okwunwanne said as a solution, the President said the country has the capacity to create up to 70million jobs, if there is concentration on; Industry, ICT, services and commercial agriculture.
“We are aware we have the best talented humans and the best brains but today we have them empowering and supporting other nations, It’s a heartbreaking report, simply because they see Africa as a talent Killer. We call on all African Leaders to give their maximum Support through this noble fight. And to inform all their Embassy and missions worldwide in support of Vision Voice Africa to rescue the already existing Victim of this trafficking and those who made the mistakes on the Dangerous Migration.”
